The Bay of Kotor presents one of the most romantic landscapes in Montenegro and copes with the nicest natural sights of Europe. As if we saw a Norwegian fjord though the formation of the bay is not owing to the ice age; parallel with the subsidence of the costal ranges of the Dinaric Mountains sea-water rushed into the bay. In a wider sense the Bay of Kotor consists of 4 smaller but adjoining bays and it is a characteristic of each one that 1000-1700 metres high mountains rise from directly their coasts. The highest peak of the bay is Mount Lovcen (1749 m) rising above the town of Kotor.
